An Unbelievable Promise
First, I'm sorry I abandoned you for a few weeks. A large project at work took up all my work time and my spare time. I continued learning a new verse each week, but I did not have a chance to create graphics and blog posts for you.
Second, that idea of forgiveness leads me to this unbelievable promise of God in 1 John 1:9:
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
I'm asking you to forgive me a little thing -- being inattentive to my blog for a few weeks. But God offers to forgive us for big things -- all our sins. We have to take one little step.
Confess.
We don't have to get our lives together.
We don't have to make a grand sacrifice.
We don't have to try harder or do better.
We just have to confess.
But how hard that can be when we want to hang on to that sinfulness.
In Sunday school someone asked recently why anyone would want to follow in the path of sinfulness. It's an easy answer. The enemy makes it look so very enticing. He makes promises he cannot fulfill, promises he never intended to fulfill.
But God.
God offers forgiveness with the full intention of giving freely to anyone who asks.
What a beautiful verse to memorize when the enemy tries to convince us we'll never be good enough for God to want us, when in truth God wants us no matter how bad we are.
I hope you'll dust off your effort to memorize verses with me this year and use these images below to aid your memorization. Share it on social media and use it as your phone's wallpaper.
Do you have a favorite verse you've memorized this year? I'd love to hear about it.
